This is my second project after getting back into fiber arts (June 2002?). It's a collaboration with my grandma and she did most of the hard work.

I took squares and rectangles my grandma had crocheted in acrylic, worsted-weight yarn for two different projects that she never finished. I wove in the ends, cussing copiously - lol, and sewed the blocks together. I didn't know much about joining piecework at the time, and whipstitched the pieces, but it still turned out well. When you start out with quality, it's hard to go wrong :-).

Oops! I realized after posting this that not all of the ends had been woven in when this photo was taken - more cussing followed :D. But the ends were all woven by the time it was put into action.

And Julian got a blanket collaboratively made by his Aunt Laura and his Great-Grandma Hueil! I doubt he thinks about it much, but I'm awfully glad to have been able to share in making a project with my grandma, and to have been inspired by her to get back into fiber arts!

Thanks for looking.

That baby is going to be very amused by all the different patterns used there (at least I know I would be)

Weaving in ends doesn't sound like a very welcoming re-introduction to fiber arts, but I'm glad to hear you're sticking with it anyway. It's well worth the tedious parts like this.

I'm making a baby blanket for a cousin and that's how I'm joining granny squares. Are you not supposed to do this?

Superb.

And yeah: I hear ya on the bane of weaving in ends. You've finished the item... but you haven't! Hate that.
